MoU signing between UMP and Two Universities from Taiwan

Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) with its vision to be a World Class University persistently establishes international partnerships. Until present, UMP has been in agreement with a number of international institutions to boost its internationalization. In 2016, UMP has made agreements with several international universities, two of which are National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and The National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences (NTUNHS), Taiwan.


A meeting between UMP and NCKU held in Jember, East Java on September 1, 2016 was to discuss further about the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). The delegate from NCKU was Prof. Wang, Jing-Jy, Ph.D. RN, the Director of Department of Nursing and the representative from UMP was Ns. Devita Elsanti, S. Kp., M.Sc., the Head of Nursing D3 Department of UMP. Prof. Wang showed a positive response to do follow up actions. The draft of agreement discussed by the committee of NCKU Department of Nursing and NCKU Medical College includes a corporation in a form of joint research, guest lecture, student exchange, and other possible academic cooperation.


Apart from that, Dr. H. Syamsuhadi Irsyad, M.H. (the Rector of UMP) signed a MoU that was witnessed by Dr. Jebul Suroso (the Vice Rector for Partnership and Development Affairs) and Drs. H. Ikhsan Mujahid, M.Si. (the Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences of UMP). The signing was conducted at Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS) on December 21, 2016. The delegate from NTUNHS was Dr. Chien Huei Kao, the Director of Nurse-Midwifery Department. Both institutions agree to undertake academic and educational collaborations such as exchange of students and staffs, joint research and seminars, dual degree program in nursing, etc.


These two agreements are not the first done by the Faculty of Health Sciences of UMP. Previously, the faculty has undertaken agreements with Cebu Normal University, Khon Kaen University and Angeles University Foundation of Philippines.(iao-Nov)
