FKIP UMP to Conduct International Teaching Practice

With its international vision, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (FKIP UMP) plans to conduct international Teaching Practice Program (TPP). The program facilitated by International Affairs Office of UMP (IAO UMP) will involve all students of FKIP UMP who are then selected to be 16 persons to go to Malaysia in February 2017. The international TPP will run for a month.


Santhy Hawanti, Ph.D., the director of IAO UMP, told the recruitment of the participants is open for all departments in the faculty. All departments are also allowed to send their prospective students who also need to follow all stages of the selection process such as interview and essay writing. Through the selection, it is expected that the candidates’ competence, seriousness, and preparedness are known. “Furthermore, their English competence becomes the main consideration of the selection team,” Santhy said.


In addition, she explained after the selection process, the participants will be sent to schools partner in Malaysia. The distribution to each school will be done by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) which has cooperation with UMP. Santhy advises the participants to be able to adapt and to save face of their university.


Apart from that, Pratik Hari Yuwono, S.Sn, M.A., the coordinator of international TPP, ensures this program will enable the students to have new insight to compare the education in Indonesia and Malaysia. This program is the recent breakthrough done by FKIP UMP to enhance the international quality of their students. He also told this program will be possibly done annually in different countries.
