PURWOKERTO — On Tuesday (March 3, 2026), it was reported that an international internship program at Education Development And Solutions Specialist Sdn Bhd (EDESS), located in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, has been successfully joined by two Informatics Engineering students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP). The two students undertaking this global opportunity were identified as Muhammad Jahdan Azzaki and Ilham Farizh Brevian.
The internship program is being carried out by the students from February 16 to June 18, 2026. A blended format is being utilized for the implementation of the program, wherein an offline agenda in Malaysia was scheduled from March 2 to 5, 2026, while the remainder of the semester’s workload is being completed remotely.
High expectations regarding the program were expressed by Muhammad Jahdan Azzaki in a statement. It was hoped by him that skills could be significantly improved and new knowledge could be gained through their participation in the EDESS program. Furthermore, a strong desire was conveyed that a positive impact and concrete contributions could be delivered by this experience to both their specific study program and the university as a whole.
Full support for this initiative was also voiced by UMP’s Vice Rector I for Academic and Cooperation Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Saefurrohman, Ph.D. A message was imparted by him urging the students to maximize this rare opportunity. It was deeply hoped by the Vice Rector that positive contributions toward the accreditation enhancement of both the Informatics Engineering Study Program and UMP in its entirety could be generated by the execution of this EDESS internship program.
The high relevance of this internship to the students’ academic competencies was further explained by the Head of the Informatics Engineering Study Program, Agung Purwo Wicaksono, S.T., M.Kom. It was detailed by him that the program is closely related to the IT field, as websites are expected to be created and managed by the two participating students. This task was noted to be perfectly aligned with the scientific discipline being pursued by them. It was also asserted by Agung that the competitiveness of UMP’s Informatics Engineering Program at both national and international levels is clearly demonstrated by this academic achievement.
Ultimately, this international internship is considered a strategic step taken by UMP to expand its global network and enhance the quality of its graduates, ensuring they are well-equipped to compete in the international arena. It is highly expected that this milestone can be used as an inspiration by other students to continuously excel and capitalize on any available global cooperation opportunities.
