PURBALINGGA – The Slamet Trails Runs 2025 successfully concluded on Sunday (19/10), marking a significant achievement in bolstering Purbalingga’s burgeoning sport tourism sector. The two-day event, held from October 18-19, attracted a large volume of participants and visitors, providing a substantial boost to local businesses, including area lodging.
The event kicked off on Saturday (18/10) at D’LAS Serang Purbalingga, where participants finalized their preparations. Runners completed mandatory medical check-ups, gear inspections, and collected their race packs. Later that evening, organizers held a formal press conference at the Hotel Owabong Purbalingga to outline the event’s objectives and technical details.
The main event on Sunday (19/10) began before dawn. The challenging 25K category was the first to start at 4:00 AM, followed by the 14K runners, and culminating with the 5K fun run category.
A significant highlight of this year’s run was the participation of international students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP). UMP demonstrated its support for the event by sending four students from Zimbabwe: Denni, Awan, Singo, and Ingo. Two of the students competed in the 14K category, while the other two participated in the 5K race, adding an international dimension to the competition.
The event’s success and regional importance were highlighted by the attendance of several prominent figures. Dignitaries present included the Regional Secretary of Central Java (Setda Jateng), the Vice Regent of Purbalingga, and various Heads of Agencies (Kepala Dinas) from the Purbalingga regency, alongside other local officials.
